Here is the latest news of my writing workshops.
I am excited to tell you that I have been into Lennoxtown Primary School and working with Primary 1 and 2 and the Primary 7s.
With Primary 1 and 2 I read my story 'Farmyard Olympics', from I Can Create Stories and then gave them a sheet to draw the picture that had come into their heads from me reading the story. I love working with this age group.
I had read over the story at home and made sure I looked around the group when I was reading to them. I gave them feedback sheets to draw a face on to let me know what they thought of the story and the chance to draw a picture. I got lots of smiley faces!
With Primary 7 I read the first chapter of Pure Human City and then gave them worksheets to create their own stories. They came up with excellent story ideas and at the end asked lots of interesting questions.
The feedback sheets I gave them came back with lots of positive comments which is great to see. When I was reading I had to remember to speak clearly and loud enough so that everyone could hear what I was saying. I also had to remember to speak slower than I do normally and pause for effect!
I loved my time with the children and hope to be back in the school in the future.
