Inspiring April

Inspiring April

April has been a month of new and exciting moments.

East Dunbartonshire Business Awards 2019

I sent off applications for two categories of the East Dunbartonshire Business Awards 2019 - Community Champion and Business Growth.  I realised, when I was filling out the application forms, that I have achieved a lot in the three years since Pure Human City was published in 2016.  I had no idea how much I had done.

I received a letter which thanked me for applying and said unfortunately I hadn’t been successful in the categories I had applied to.

I really wanted to be nominated.  I am however very pleased that I felt confident enough to apply for the categories and realise that what I am doing with my life has slowly been changing and I love where I am heading.

Scottish Book Trust

 Live Literature Database

I have applied to the Scottish Book Trust to be put on the Live Literature Database which involved creating a Writing CV.  I listed everything I had achieved to send to Alison Spencer who was helping me with my Writing CV.  It is amazing how everything adds up!  The panel at the Scottish Book Trust meets up in June and I will hear in July.  I hope I am successful.

 Competition

The Scottish Book Trust also have a competition which is about creating a piece of writing on the subject of having a blether.  I got a story idea.  Now I have to write my story - great fun.

Campsie Writers’ Group

The Campsie Writers’ Group has been meeting up.  We have had very enjoyable meetings and I ran a workshop.

Writing workshop

I had three tubs labelled Who am I?, Where am I? And What is my job?

I gave everyone three bits of paper and asked them to write something to go into each tub.  Once this was completed everyone then chose one piece of paper from each tub.  It was very interesting to see what everyone got.

I asked the group to write something based on what was on their bits of paper.  I asked everyone to read what they had written.  The results were marvellous and extremely varied.

I really enjoyed delivering this workshop and hope everyone enjoyed taking part.

Business Gateway events

I have been going to two networking events with Business Gateway - Women in Business and ED-Net.  Both were very interesting and informative.  I am beginning to know some people when I go to these events now.

News flash

The most exciting moment was when I got to hold my new book, ‘I Can Create Stories (Story Edition), in my hands!  I was at the monthly Indie Authors meeting at Waterstones when Sinclair Macleod of Indie Authors world handed me my book.  I held my book in my hands and grinned.

Every time I hold the first copy of my book in my hands is very special.

How did April go for you?

Have fun in May.

I’d love to hear from you if you’d like to contact me.
