My new writing habit.

My new writing habit.

My new writing habit.

Ahhhh! How do I find time to write? Why is it so difficult to make the time to write?

These were the questions going round in my head. I didn't have any answers. All I was aware of was the noise of my swirling thoughts.

I needed some way to have dedicated time to write, where my head was clear of any other thoughts. An email I received, just before Christmas, offered me a solution - how to build a writing habit.

The email detailed the following steps:

1          Start by writing for one minute, every day for a week. Building this time up gradually over the following weeks, until you reach the time you want to write for.

2          Write for only the time you have decided eg one minute.

3          Set a time in your diary to build your habit.

I started with one minute, which is very, very short!

I have gradually been building up the writing time and loving the feeling of achieving focused time on my story.

I am now up to 20 minutes per day.

The email came from Randy Ingermanson who wrote a book called - How to Write a Novel using the Snowflake Method. It is an excellent book if you are looking for a way to map out your story or any piece of writing. I would recommend reading this book.

My life and writing both have a wonderful feeling ease in them.

What habit would you like to start?

Let me know if the information in my email helps you.
